TRD
In 1994, TRD established a new factory in “Costa Mesa, California,” demonstrating their dedication to the American motorsports’ scene. More than 200 technicians and engineers from more than 25 “nations” work at the Costa Mesa headquarters.
Early off-road victories, such the Baja 1000 with legendary drivers like “Ivan Stewart,” were the beginning of TRD’s success. Toyota made racing history early in the new millennium when it won the “Indianapolis 500.”
The cast iron eight-cylinder Toyota engine used in the NASCAR Xfinity and Gander Truck Series was the basis for the “Toyota 360” engine that TRD introduced for the “USAC Silver Crown” competition in late 2007. In addition to 22 triumphs, the 360 engines have won two team titles (2008 and 2012), one driver’s championship (Jerry Coons Jr., 2008), and is still used “sometimes” in the competition.
Toyota has won “180 NCS races, 3 NCS championships, 201 NXS wins, and four NXS Championships” since entering the NCS and NXS in 2007. Furthermore, Toyota has claimed 228 victories and 9 Truck Series titles since joining the “NCTS” in 2004.
Martin Truex Jr. (2017) and Kyle Busch (2015, 2019) are the two Toyota drivers who have won three “driver” championships in the NCS. In addition, TRD has three “manufacturer” titles to its name (2016, 2017 and 2019).
A brand-new Toyota Camry XSE race vehicle for the “NASCAR Cup Series” (NCS) was unveiled by Toyota in 2023, and it will compete in the NCS in 2024. The Toyota Camry TRD Next Gen, which finished the last two competitive seasons with “18 wins and 25 poles,” is followed by the Camry XSE Next Gen.
With the Camry in the “National Cup Series” (NCS), the GR Supra in the “NASCAR Xfinity Series” (NXS), and the Tundra TRD Pro in the “NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series” (NCTS), Toyota remains the only manufacturer in NASCAR to display three branding across the three national series.
Vehicles in the TRD Pro Series are designed and adjusted from the factory to go further “off-road.”
Since 2002, Toyota has been a part of the “National Hot Rod Association” (NHRA) with the debut of the Toyota Celica Funny Car. In the two nitro divisions of the NHRA, “Funny Car and Top Fuel,” Toyota has won hundreds of races since 2002. With the designation of “Official Car” of the NHRA since 2014, Toyota has been an official partner of the NHRA for almost ten years.
Launched in March 2020, the GR Supra GT4 model was created in “Cologne, Germany” by “TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Europe” (the motorsport outfit that has won the Le Mans 24 Hours five times). Since the vehicle’s introduction, owners of GT4 have triumphed in races and championships held on three continents, “the GT4 European Series, GT4 America, and Super Taikyu in Japan” (and including the Nürburgring 24 Hours).

With the Toyota “TS050 HYBRID,” TOYOTA GAZOO Racing won the Le Mans 24 Hours for the third time in a row in 2020.
The “National Auto Sport Association” (NASA) National Championships in 2022 used the Toyota GR Corolla as their official pace car. A “three-cylinder, turbocharged” engine producing 300 horsepower and “273 lb.-ft.” of torque powers the 2023 GR Corolla.
The following vehicles were designed by TRD and Calty: the sixth-generation Camry for MENCS in 2013, the Tundra for NCWTS in 2014, the seventh-generation Camry for NXS in 2015, the eighth-generation Camry for MENCS in 2016, the eighth-generation Camry for NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series in 2017 and “the Supra for NASCAR in 2017.”
Toyota’s new, cutting-edge, and potent “hybrid powertrain” is included in the 2022 Tundra TRD Pro. The 3.5-liter V6 twin-turbocharged i-FORCE MAX engine produces 437 horsepower and a massive “583 lb.-ft.” of torque at an astonishingly low 2,400 RPM when combined with an “electric motor” system that sits between the engine and a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Toyota’s long-time and trusted partner, Complete Customs in “McKinney, Texas,” has been handling the paint jobs for the racing cars.
TMNA Motorsports Marketing engages in launch activities and other marketing initiatives alongside “participation” in NASCAR, NHRA, and other US racing series. TMNA stands for Toyota Motor North America.
Since the early 2010s, Toyota, through its TRD brand, has been implementing a “driver development program” known as TD2. This initiative is designed to provide “comprehensive training” aimed at nurturing drivers to excel at the highest echelons of motorsports.
During the series in 2023, “Toyota Gazoo Racing North America” (TGRNA) enjoyed the opportunity to welcome Mobil 1, Continental, Gearwrench, Crescent Tools, Yahoo, JBL, OMP, Racing Spirit, and Stratasys as founding partners to the GR Cup. GR stands for GAZOO Racing.
TRD Parts -
“Race or Off-Highway Use” Parts and TRD Parts are the two distinct types of TRD Parts. Each of these categories has significantly distinct “warranty policies” and legal usage guidelines for Parts. “Race or Off-Highway Use” Parts are exclusively available from TRD for off-highway competitive or racing applications.
When fitted by an approved Toyota Dealer, TRD Parts are warranted for a period of ‘12 months or 12,000 miles’ from the date of installation, or “for the remaining duration of the ‘car warranty’ in case of new car,” whichever is higher. Superchargers are covered by the same guarantee, but it lasts for ‘12 months or 12,000 miles’ after installation, or “for the remaining ‘5 years or 60,000 miles’ if the new car’s powertrain warranty is still in effect at the time of installation.”
The warranty coverage for “TRD Parts”/Superchargers installed by non-authorized Toyota dealers is restricted to the replacement value of the TRD Part and is only valid for a period of ‘12 months or 12,000 miles’ from the date of purchase.
No guarantee is offered for “Race or Off-Highway Use” Parts. Regarding these parts’ performance, the buyer bears all risk. Public roads should not be used by vehicles “fitted” with Race or Off-Highway Use Parts.
Dealers of Toyota or Scion vehicles are not allowed to install “Race or Off-Highway Use” Parts on cars meant for use on public roads. Installing Race or Off-Highway Use Parts could have a negative impact on your car’s warranty. The vehicle warranty also excludes coverage for any “covered” component failure that these parts may result in.
Note: It is the duty of TRD customers to make sure that using any TRD Part conforms with all relevant local, state, or federal “laws, rules, and ordinances.”
For the majority of V6-powered 4×4 Tacoma vehicles, the ALL-NEW Tacoma TRD Lift Kit offers a “2-inch front and 1-inch rear” lift. Additionally, the “breakover angle (+1.6 to 22 degrees), departure angle (+0.5 to 24 degrees), and approach angle (+3.1 to 32 degrees)” are all improved by the kit. To maintain everything in alignment, it also has a revised grille with a new mounting position for the “Millimeter” wave radar sensor.
