Nick Chubb injury

Nick Chubb (#24), the Cleveland Browns’ running back, suffered a significant ‘knee’ injury during the second quarter of the ‘Week 2 game’ of the ‘2023 NFL season’ against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The injury affected the “anterior cruciate ligament” (ACL) and “medial collateral ligament” (MCL) in his left knee, the same knee he had injured during his ‘college career.’

Chubb’s MCL was torn. His ACL was not completely ripped, although it did receive significant injury. Chubb’s injury did not involve a complete dislocation of his ‘kneecap,’ and the remaining ligaments in his ‘knee’ appeared to be intact.

Nick Chubb (#24) sustained this ‘knee injury’ during a game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on ‘September 18, 2023,’ at the 14:14 mark of the second quarter. The injury occurred as Chubb was tackled while carrying the ball near the ‘goal line,’ resulting in his left knee bending unnaturally. At the time of the injury, Nick was performing exceptionally well, rushing for “64 yards on 10 carries,” showing his usual explosiveness. Following the injury, he was carted off the field and ‘ruled out’ for the remainder of the game.

The Cleveland Browns had suffered a disappointing 26-22 defeat to the Pittsburgh Steelers in this injury match, as their first ‘regular season’ matchup of the year 2023 (at Acrisure Stadium).

In September 2023, Nick Chubb underwent surgery specifically addressing injuries to his “medial collateral ligament (MCL), medial meniscus, and medial capsule” (in order to repair the collateral ligaments and ‘joint lining’).  In November 2023, Chubb underwent a planned second surgery to repair his “anterior cruciate ligament” (ACL) i.e., to rebuild his knee’s inside. It was estimated at that time, Nick would be able to resume playing sometime during the ‘2024 season,’ based on the recovery period of the surgeries.

Nick Chubb made his return in Week 7 of the ‘2024 NFL season,’ playing against the Cincinnati Bengals. In his first game back against the Bengals, Chubb recorded “11 carries for 22 yards” and scored a touchdown, along with a 10-yard reception.

Past, Nick Chubb’s 2015 college injury while playing for the ‘University of Georgia’ was notably severe. During a game against ‘Tennessee,’ Chubb dislocated his kneecap and tore multiple ligaments, including the PCL (posterior cruciate ligament), MCL (medial collateral ligament), and LCL (lateral collateral ligament). The ACL, however, was unharmed, in contrast to his 2023 injury. Chubb’s perseverance was evident from this prior injury, as he ‘full recovered’ and had returned to play at a high level. Before making his comeback to the field in the 2016 season opener, Nick underwent months of ‘rehabilitation.’

A four-time ‘Pro Bowler’ and one-time ‘Second-Team All-Pro,’ Nick Chubb has consistently demonstrated elite performance, achieving four consecutive 1,000-yard rushing seasons from ‘2019 through 2022.’ Chubb has run for “6,511 yards on 1,238 attempts” over “six seasons” (2018–2023), averaging 5.3 yards per carry and scoring 48 rushing touchdowns. Chubb was recognized as one of the NFL’s elite players, being ranked 29th in the “2023 NFL Top 100 Players” list.
