One of the smallest states and to the west of the “Appalachian Mountains” is Indiana (IN); its southern region is known for “rolling hills, waterfalls, and caverns,” while the northern two-thirds are mainly made up of flat plains and a large number of tiny lakes. Indiana is situated in the Midwest, in the Great Lakes region of the United States. The 17th most populous state in the union is Indiana.

Florida's terrain is low and level, with a mild incline from the center to the coast and from the north to the south. Florida has 823 miles of sandy coastline. It is the state with the third-highest population in the union.
