Oak land

The “oak tree” (Quercus agrifolia) that once dominated the coast is the source of Oakland’s name. A second-growth coast “redwood” (Sequoia sempervirens) tree-forest can be found in the “Oak land” hills. Sailors travelling the San Francisco Bay utilized the original first-growth redwood trees as a marker because they were so tall and noticeable.

“Oak land” serves as the transportation core for Northern California, with its harbour, airport, multiple interstate roads, and “passenger and freight train lines passing through the city”. The second busiest container port in the US is the “Port of Oakland”. Every year, the Port of “Oak land” seaport handles more than $40 billion in global trade.

As the busiest airport in California, OAK ranks fourth and is the main air cargo hub in the Bay Area. The airport is among the top three in the country and in the top three on the West Coast — in terms of aviation freight volume.  Eleven distinct airline brands offer non-stop service to over 65 domestic and international destinations.

“Oak land” is a highly ethnically diverse city in the United States, with over 15 percent of its population belonging to each of the four major racial/ethnic groups: Blacks, Asians/Pacific Islanders, Hispanics, and non-Hispanic whites.

The Planning Commission had given its approval to the proposed Brooklyn Basin Project. Up to 3,100 residential units, 200,000 square feet of ground-floor business space, a total of 3,950 parking spots, two refurbished marinas, 29.9 acres of parks and public open space, and an “existing wetlands restoration region” are all included in the permission.
