Featuring a 73-0 victory over Washington in 1940, the Bears gained 4 “NFL titles” in the 1940s.

When the Bears acquired “Ed Healey” from Rock Island in 1922 for $100, they became the first team to purchase a player from another team.

In 1986, after defeating the New England Patriots (46-10), the Bears won their first and sole “Super Bowl.”

The American Professional Football Association’s “Decatur Staleys,” who would later become the NFL in 1922, were the team’s original name when they began their journey in “Decatur, Ill.” in 1920.

The 1976 Pittsburgh Steelers and the Bears are the only two teams in “Super Bowl” history to rush for at least 225 yards in four straight games. Bears (2,017 yards) with the 2019 Ravens, are the only two teams since 1980 to rush for “at least 2,000 yards” in their first ten games. In 2022, with an average of 201.7 yards per game, the Bears were at the top in the NFL in rushing.

Of all NFL teams, the Bears have the most players elected to the “Pro Football Hall of Fame” with 32.

After a 12-year career (1981–92) that saw 10 Pro Bowl selections, former Bears linebacker “Mike Singletary” holds the record for most selections by the team. A total of 231 selections to the Pro Bowl have been made by 87 Bears players.

“Walter Payton” has accounted for ten of the 32 “Bears 1,000-yard running” seasons, among these ten, eight are holding top position throughout 32 single-season.

Initially selected for the NFL’s 1920s All-Decade Team as a “player,” George Halas (also known as “Papa Bear”) went on to become the league’s most successful coach with 324 wins.

In the 104-year history of the Bears, 39-year-old “Jennifer King” became the first female coach. When Washington appointed her to assistant “running backs” coach in 2021, she became the first “Black woman” to be designated a full-time NFL coach. Currently (May, 2024), 9 NFL teams have 12 full-time female coaches.

Not only was “Justin Fields” the first quarterback in the “Super Bowl” era to score a touchdown on the ground in 6 successive games, but he also became the first to rush for at least 70 yards in 5 straight games since at least 1950. Fields also became the “first quarterback” to score 3 touchdown runs of at least 50 yards.

“Trevor Siemian” made league history in 2016 when he started a defending Super Bowl champion team’s season opener without ever having completed an “NFL pass.”

NFL history’s second-oldest player to grab a touchdown pass and the oldest player in Bears history to “score a touchdown” was tight end “Marcedes Lewis” in 2023.

“Jaquan Brisker” made history in 2023 by becoming the first defensive back in Bears history to register a minimum of 17 tackles in a “single game” since at least 1970. In 2022, he surpassed “Bryce Callahan” to become the first defensive back rookie in Bears history to get to the quarterback during a game.

With 6.5 sacks for the Commanders and “6.0 for the Bears” in the same season in 2023, “Montez Sweat” became the only player in NFL history to accomplish this feat.

After “Walter Payton,” Velus Jones Jr. made history in the 2022 season by becoming the first Bears player to ever have a “rush, reception, and kickoff return” all of at least 25 yards in a single game.

Since Craig Krenzel, “Tyson Bagent” became the first quarterback for the Bears to win in his NFL debut.

Since Lance Briggs, no Bears linebacker has intercepted two passes in a single game until “Roquan Smith” (in 2020). Smith made Bears history in 2022 when he recorded “at least 12 tackles,” a sack, and an interception in one game.

Since Roquan Smith, “Dominique Robinson” is the only rookie for the Bears to record a sack in their first-ever “regular season” game in 2022.

With 1,313 yards, “Jordan Howard” finished second in the NFL and set a rookie rushing record for the Bears in 2016. Since Hall of Fame “running back” (RB) Gale Sayers, he became the first rookie RB for the franchise to be selected for the Pro Bowl. He also broke the record in 2017 by becoming the fastest Bears player to carry for 2,000 yards in just 24 games, surpassing Hall of Famers “Sayers (28),” and Walter Payton (26).

Along with Michael Timpson, “Darnell Mooney” became the second wide receiver in Bears history to record “a receiving and a rushing” touchdown in the same regular-season game in 2021.

“Devin Hester” became the NFL’s all-time top, recording eighteen touchdowns on kick returns and “thirteen on punt returns,” in 8 seasons with the Bears from 2006 to 2013. In addition to winning thirteen special teams “player of the week” accolades and being selected for the NFL’s 2000s All-Decade team, his 2006 “second-round” pick was selected for 3 Pro Bowls.

With “105 of 116” field goals made, or 90.5% of the kicks, “Cairo Santos” is the most accurate kicker in Bears history as of 2023 data. Over the course of the couple years, Santos matched the “third-longest streak in NFL history and set a team record” with 40 consecutive field goals.

“David Montgomery” joined Hall of Famer “Gale Sayers, Matt Forte, and Jordan Howard” as the only Bears players to record at least 1,000 yards in each of their first three seasons.

Based on a survey of NFL players conducted by NFL Network, Bears CB “Charles Tillman” was ranked 34th overall in the league in 2013. He had a career-high 10 forced fumbles, which matched for the most since the NFL began keeping track of the metric in 1991, and he led the league with 3 “interception return touchdowns.”

After Marshall Faulk, “Matt Forte,” at the time of his retirement, was the second-fastest player in League history to reach 8,000 yards rushing and “4,000 yards receiving.” From 2008 to 2015, Forte led the Bears in rushing eight times in a row.

When “Alshon Jeffery” caught 10 passes with 218 yards against the Saints in 2014, he set a new Bears single-game receiving record. Jeffery is rated as the 54th greatest player in the NFL in 2013. The Bears’ all-time receiving leader with “4,549 yards, 304 receptions, and 26 touchdowns” is Jeffrey, who is ranked third.

In 2019, “Allen Robinson II” became just the third Bears wide receiver in history to record at least 1,100 yards and 95 catches in a single season. He received the “Bears Media Good Guy Award, the Ed Block Courage Award,” and was the Bears’ finalist for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award in 2019.

From 2010 to 2013, “Julius Peppers” played with the Bears for four of his seventeen League seasons. With 159.5 sacks, he is fourth in league history. As part of the Class of 2024, former Bears players “Devin Hester, Steve McMichael, and Julius Peppers” have been inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

The Bears’ 2019 “Taylor Gabriel” became the first player since 1965 Hall of Fame RB Gale Sayers to score 3 touchdowns in a single quarter/period.

“Steve McMichael,” a defensive tackle, is now fourth in NFL history with 95.0 career sacks as of 2024. In addition to being a two-time Pro Bowler, McMichael was a “three-time member of the second team All-Pro” and two-time first-team All-Pro.

In 2013, “Brandon Marshall” became the first player on the squad to have many seasons with 100 or more catches. In 2012, he established career and Bears records with 118 receptions and “1,508 receiving yards.” With “218 receptions, 2,803 yards, and 23 touchdowns” in two years in Chicago, he ranked second in the NFL.

Following his NFL-high 29.0-yard average and 2 touchdowns in kickoff returns in 2003, “Jerry Azumah” was selected for the Pro Bowl. As a rookie in 2009, “Johnny Knox” was selected for the Pro Bowl based on his 29.0-yard average in kickoff returns, which included a score of 102 yards, placing him second in the League.

With 4,353 kickoff-return yards and 4,477 aggregate kick-return yards, “Dennis Gentry” is third in Bears history.

In 2018, “Tarik Cohen” led the NFL with 411 punt-return yards at an average of 12.5 yards per return, “earning him a spot on the first team of the All-Pro ballot” and his first Pro Bowl selection.

In 2019, “Mitchell Trubisky” matched the franchise record with four 300-yard performances and became the first QB in Bears history to earn a passer rating of at least 120.0 in 4 games throughout a season.

With 4,596 kickoff-return yards — including a team record and NFL-leading 1,550 in 1998 — “Glyn Milburn” is ranked second in Bears history. In 1999, Milburn was selected for the Pro Bowl.
